A 63-year-old lady Mrs. Mumtaz Bee from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh had an incident of fall two months back which lead her to fracture in Vertebrae (D12) with cord compression and PIVD ( Prolapsed of the intervertebral disc) – L4, L5 which causes severe back pain in the lower limb.
She consulted two to three Ortho consultants to get rid of the pain but there was no sign of relief. After two months when the pain remains the same she consulted Dr. Vinod Arora at Medi-Square Hospital. Dr. Arora suggested her to get the relevant investigations done and on the basis of investigations, Dr. Arora has suggested her to go for surgery and explained related complications of the same.
After patients and attendants’ consent Laminectomy and discectomy of L4, L5 vertebrae, Laminectomy, Decompression of D12 level with pedicle screw fixation of D11 and L1 vertebrae and vertebroplasty of D12 vertebrae was performed on her.
In spite of a number of complications, surgery went successful and the patient is in stable condition.
